The Committee takes note of the Government’s report.
The Committee notes with interest section 43 of the Employment Act 2002, which provides, in a new section 168A of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act, 1992, that employers shall permit union learning representatives to take time off during work hours for certain purposes.
The Committee notes the comments by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) concerning the application of this Convention received on 1 February 1995 and the Government's reply of the same date. As these comments do not directly touch upon the provisions of this Convention and have already been raised under Conventions Nos. 87 and 98, the Committee continues to consider these matters under these latter Conventions.
