With reference to its previous comments requesting information on the application of the Convention in practice, the Committee notes that, despite the fact that statistical information is not yet available, the Government is currently examining different options on how to compile and maintain statistics on the number of workers protected by the national legislation on accident compensation, the amount of benefits awarded annually as well as the number and nature of contraventions recorded. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would continue to keep it informed of any developments in this regard, and wishes to draw the Government’s attention to the possibility to avail itself of the technical assistance of the Office in this respect.
The Committee notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that a report will be supplied for examination by the Committee at its next session and that it will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous direct request, which read as follows:
Part V of the report form. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would provide information in its next report on the application of the Convention in practice, particularly statistics of the number of workers protected by the legislation, the amount of the compensation awarded and the number and nature of contraventions recorded.
