Allegations

The complainant alleges that the Government has not taken the desired measures to protect workers’ right to organize and to collective bargaining, or to protect them against acts of anti-union discrimination from a private employer (Somitex SA). The complainant alleges, in particular, the dismissal of 14 union representatives engaged in legitimate union activities, the collective dismissal of 145 workers who had gone on strike to protest against the company’s attitude, management’s refusal to attend meetings and to bargain collectively, and its stalling tactics during negotiations
