With reference to its observation, the Committee requests the Government to provide additional information on the following points.
Article 11 of the Convention. Obligation to ensure that certain functions are progressively carried out in relation to: (a) the design, construction and lay-out of undertakings; (b) work processes which are prohibited, limited or made subject to authorization; (e) the publication annually of information on policy measures, occupational accidents and diseases; and (f) the system for the examination of chemical, physical and biological agents. The Committee notes the Government’s report indicating the various authorities competent in the field of occupational safety and health. The Committee once again requests the Government to describe the mechanisms and procedures within which the functions mentioned in the clauses listed under this Article are carried out.
Article 12. Obligations of those who design, manufacture, import, provide or transfer machinery, equipment or substances for occupational use. The Committee notes the information provided by the Government indicating the legislation which gives effect to his Article and requests it to continue providing information on this subject with indications on the application in practice of these provisions.
Part V of the report form. Application in practice. The Committee notes the annual reports of the labour inspection services for 2007 and 2008 and the information contained therein. The Committee notes that in 2008, in comparison with 2007, the total number of occupational accidents fell, but that the number of fatal accidents increased. The Committee also notes that, in comparison with previous years, the number of recognized occupational diseases increased considerably in 2006 and 2007. The Committee requests the Government to indicate the measures adopted to resolve these problems and to continue providing detailed information on the manner in which the Convention is applied in the country.
